These last few months have really brought home the importance of our families and friends. Maybe we have taken them for granted but as I have sat at home and watched the tragedy in this country unfold my thoughts inevitably turn to those closest to me. I have 2 children and my favorite photographs include one or both of them. These photographs are like a time capsule of memories and when I look at them the emotions and recollections start flooding back. Once lockdown restrictions were eased I have taken more photographs of my elderly parents too (from a distance – yes I have long lenses!) and feel that time spent talking to them is so precious.

Having been a secondary school teacher of art and photography for many years I love photographing children and families and have hard won skills in dealing with children – I don’t expect perfect children – mine aren’t!
